First, ensure all of your files and documentation is up to date at all times. Is your passport out of date? Renew it right now, before you forget, before it can get shoved away under last months bills, and you will be set the next time your travel plans take you across the globe. Waiting until the last minute to renew your necessary travel documentation may mean the difference between taking a trip and not. Find out if the country you are traveling to has other documentation requirements, such as Visas. If so, and if you know it is possible that you will be traveling to those locations in the future, get all of your paperwork in order now. Another item to remember, depending on where your flights may take you, is that immunizations might be necessary. Again, waiting until the last minute is not acceptable - stay up to date on all health precautions at all times.

Second, remember that the more you know, the farther you will go. If your business has offices in the Orient, do your research ahead of time so when a need arises to book last minute flights for an important client meeting, you know exactly which carrier to contact. It would be a shame to so carefully plan your travel and arrive to a welcoming party that wants to search and seize.

Finally, keep flexibility in mind when booking your flights. Most locations are served by more than one carrier, and so all options should be investigated. If the areas you are to fly to are not heavily populated or served by multiple routes, consider taking a connecting flight through a major hub city. Uncomplicate the mechanics of your travel by learning ahead of time the time difference between where you are and where you will be - if you have a layover but do not know what time it is and how that relates to what time your plane leaves, you will be in a bit of a spot!
